Speaker Registration and Topic Selection Form
(please complete by December 13, 2009) 

 2010 Time Line

▪ December 6, & 13, 2009 – Teachers discussed topics choices in Sunday School classes.  Please ask your child which topic he or she has chosen.

▪ Sunday December 13, 2009 – Topic selection should have been made on this date.  If you child has not yet completed their topic selection sheet please have them do so and turn it in to his or her Sunday School teacher as soon as possible.

▪ Sunday January 3, 2010 – Progress and resources will be checked in Sunday School.  Students should begin putting together a rough draft.

▪ Sunday January 10 & 17, 2010 -  Progress will be checked in Sunday School.  Students should bring their papers to class even though they are not complete.

▪ Sunday, January 31 – Rough Draft paper due.  Students should e-mail their rough draft to frcostas@stpaulgoc.org.  Fr. Costas will look over papers and may offer further guidance. 

▪ Sunday February 14 – February 21, 2010 -  Final paper due. Final papers should be e-mailed to frcostas@stpaulgoc.org no later than February 21^st.

▪ Sunday February 28, 2010 -  St. Paul Oratorical Festival presentations will be held in the Library after Sunday School to fellow students, teachers, mentors, parents and grandparents.  Two students will be chosen from each level to go to the Regional Oratorical Festival held in Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday, March 6^th.

▪ Friday March 5, 2010 – The two Finalists from each level will present their papers in church after the Salutation Service.

▪ Saturday March 6, 2010 – Regional Oratorical Festival in Youngstown, Ohio

▪ Saturday May 1, 2010 – Metropolis Oratorical Festival in Pittsburgh, PA

We are implementing the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival at our parish this year and all children in grades 7 through 12 are asked to participate.

Our parish festival will take place on March 5, 2010. This program is truly a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn and grow spiritually in their Orthodox Faith.

Each child should have their topic chosen by Sunday, December 13, 2009. Please take time to talk with your child about his or her decision process.

The topic choices are set forth by the Archdiocese and were distributed to the children along with a guided schedule to assist them through the process. The Junior Division is grades 7 - 9 and the Senior Division is grades 10 - 12.
